Robinho moves Milan closer to Scudetto

Robinho's winner against Brescia Calcio helped AC Milan stretch their advantage to eight points after SSC Napoli lost 2-1 to US Città di Palermo and FC Internazionale Milano beat S.S. Lazio.

AC Milan edged closer to their first Scudetto in seven years after Robinho scored the winner with eight minutes remaining at Brescia Calcio.

The Brazilian international had missed several chances before finally taking his opportunity to seal a 1-0 victory and propel the Rossoneri eight points clear at the top of Serie A, following SSC Napoli's 2-1 reverse at US Città di Palermo. The Partenopei were leapfrogged into second place by FC Internazionale Milano, who overcame S.S. Lazio by the same scoreline.

Napoli suffered their second successive defeat despite taking the lead. Edinson Cavani, who squandered a penalty last week, made no mistake this time, but Federico Balzaretti (36) and a Cesare Bovo spot kick (45+1) turned the match around for the Rosanero.

Inter moved a point clear of Walter Mazzari's side but had to come from behind themselves after goalkeeper Júlio César (22) was sent off for conceding a penalty which Mauro Zárate converted. Leonardo's men responded through Wesley Sneijder (40) and Samuel Eto'o's 20th league goal of the season (53). Udinese, however, passed up the chance to move into fourth as Amauri scored both goals in a 2-0 win for Parma FC.

AS Roma's faint UEFA Champions League hopes are still alive following a 1-0 win against AC Chievo Verona, Simone Perrotta's early strike taking the Giallorossi to within four points of fourth-placed Lazio. In the pick of the other action, Antonio Floro Flores hit a hat-trick as Genoa CFC defeated lowly US Lecce 4-2 and AS Bari were relegated courtesy of a 1-0 home loss to UC Sampdoria.

In the late fixture, Calcio Catania responded to Alessandro Del Piero's goals with two of their own, Maxi López (81) and Francesco Lodi (90+5) forcing a 2-2 draw at Juventus.
